Alumni Update: Paul Vergara in Cape Town, South Africa

Paul Vergara ('13, Globalization of Music & Dance Culture) is working in South Africa for Grassroots Soccer. Paul recently joined the Partnerships Team at the headquarters in Cape Town. Within two weeks of working at his new post in Cape Town, Paul was surprised to meet UR students studying in South Africa, and one student participating in the Semester at Sea Program. Thank you to Paul for sending us updates and photos. Paul have traveled throughout most of South Africa as well as parts of Mozambique and Namibia. Paul studied abroad Spring, 2012, through the Semester at Sea Program. We are happy he was lucky enough to meet Lauren Kee who is currently on the Semester at Sea Program.

Summer Archaeology Info Session PosterLearn about getting undergraduate credit for participating in archaeological fieldwork in Bermuda or Italy at an information session on the University's summer programs in archaeology. The session runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in the Welles-Brown Room, Rush Rhees Library. Refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Program in Archaeology, Technology, and Historical Structures; the Department of History; and the Department of Religion and Classics. $2K Grant Available for Exchange Programs in Australia, China, Israel, Japan, Peru, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom

ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é students interested in study abroad experiences now have an expanded and improved selection of opportunities in exchange programs. Exchange programs offer students the option of directly enrolling for a semester’s or year’s study at select partner institutions. Direct enrollment provides undergrads the opportunity to explore and study overseas in a more independent, self-directed way by integrating fully into the campus community as a full-time student.

Boren Awards, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East, where they can add important international and language components to their educations.
