How CARE Works

Step One

A CARE Referral is submitted when someone is concerned about a ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é student.

Any individual connected with the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é community is welcome to submit a CARE Referral, or contact a CARE staff member directly. Upon submission, the referrer will receive an email receipt confirming the submission of the referral which indicates that the CARE Network is activating a coordinated response.

CARE is committed to supporting the student in need of support. The CARE staff member will share information as appropriate and when it is in the student's best interest. If you are seeking updates regarding the status of the CARE Referral, or if you have additional information or a change in level of concern, please contact us directly at CARENetwork@rochester.edu.

Step Two

The CARE staff reaches out to the student of concern offering the student a supportive conversation.

CARE staff will collaborate with the CARE Team and Student Support Network to provide the best resources and coordinate pathways of support.

Step Three

Students are offered the opportunity to meet with someone in CARE. During this meeting, supportive planning along with recommendations to resources will be provided.

In certain cases, students may be required to meet with CARE if the student is exhibiting higher-level signs of substance abuse, self-harm, or harm to others.

Step Four

If no additional concerns from the student, referrer, or campus affiliates are presented, the CARE Referral is considered closed.

Referrers will receive an email from the CARE Network upon the closing of a referral, and are always encouraged to reach out with further concerns for the student.
