Overview

Community service is an integral part of the ongoing life of the faith communities at the Interfaith Chapel.

All of the religious groups engage in regular community service activities such as:

  • Providing and serving food at local soup kitchens
  • Food drives
  • Clothing drives
  • Volunteering in local schools as tutors or mentors
  • Habitat for Humanity projects
  • Alternative spring break trips
  • Other community service activities

The faith communities at the chapel also work with each other on various community service projects each year and take time for reflective interfaith dialogue about the values and commitments within each of their traditions that inspire them to give back to the community.

Giving Back

Each year during December, the chapel sponsors Gifts for the Giving, a project soliciting donations of clothing and toys that are then distributed to schools and other organizations in the community that serve the needs of poor children.

Chapel communities have worked with homeless shelters, Foodlink, various ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é area soup kitchens, schools in the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é City School District, and agencies serving the refugee population in ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é. The engages in a variety of interfaith community service projects, with a different focus each year.
