Inter-Institutional Registration
There are many, many courses taught at the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é; however, if there is one that interests you that is not taught here, there may be an option to take the course at another approved area college. These courses may be available to undergraduate students with no extra tuition charge if the guidelines below are met. Please see the registration form for more information:
- The requested course(s) are not available at the home school.
- The student is a full-time enrolled undergraduate student at the home school in a matriculated program throughout the duration of the requested course(s). See the registration form for the definition of a full-time enrolled student.
- The course must be applicable toward the student’s undergraduate degree program.
- Course enrollment through this inter-institutional agreement is not applicable to graduate students, graduate-level courses or during the summer semester.
- Registration is on a space available basis.
Steps to Take
If you are a ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é undergraduate student interested in participating in the inter-institutional agreement, please follow these steps to get started:
- Looking to count the coursework toward your major or minor?
- Speak with the major/minor department contact listed on the authorized approval list.
- Bring the course approval form (pdf) with you to get signed.
- Next stop—The College Center for Advising Services to discuss the course(s).
- Third stop—The Office of the University Registrar for review and signatures.
- Last stop—Take your signed form to the visiting institution’s Registrar’s office for the review and registration before the end of the add/drop period.
Visiting Students
If you are a visiting student from another ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é Area College looking to take a course at the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é through the inter-institutional process, please contact the Office of the University Registrar directly.
Acceptable Courses
Courses, whether elective or required for the major, must be transferable and/or comparable to courses offered at the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é. Students taking courses at area colleges should apprise themselves of the differences in credit systems and plan accordingly.
Students should talk to a CCAS advisor for more information about what courses are considered transferable and/comparable, and for credit information.
Grades and Transcripts
Students should be aware that grades received in area college courses will not be included in the grade point average or on the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é transcript. Transfer credit is awarded if C or higher grades are earned.
ROTC
Courses taken for Army ROTC or Air Force ROTC may be credited toward the fulfillment of the requirements of the BA or BS degree for up to five academic courses (20 credit hours). Please note that not all courses transfer. See a CCAS advisor for more information or with questions.
For information regarding credits from courses taken before 2013 or any questions, please contact cascas@ur.rochester.edu.
