Academic Accommodations
Using the interactive process, a collaborative process between the access coordinator and the student, our access coordinators consider a wide variety of factors when determining reasonable accommodations, including the:
- Nature of the disability and its impact on learning
- Documentation provided
- Other relevant facts
Students who are approved for accommodations should meet with their access coordinator to generate a notification of accommodations letter, which is sent via email to instructors.
Students may be eligible for a variety of accommodations. These accommodations may include, but are not limited to:
- Alternative testing procedures (extended time, alternate location, computer use, etc.)
- Instructional materials in accessible formats
- Reading, writing, and note taking software
- ASL interpreters, real-time captioning, assistive listening devices
While the process for requesting reasonable accommodations may be started at any time, reasonable accommodations may not be implemented retroactively.
