CMAP Fellowships
The National Science Foundation (NSF) Physics Frontier Center for Matter at Atomic Pressure (CMAP), a multi-institutional enterprise anchored at the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é, invites applications for multiple positions for Post-Doctoral Fellowships (CMAP Fellows) and graduate level positions with research interests and experience in high energy density physics, material science, quantum matter, extreme chemistry, physics, astrophysics, planetary science, earth and environmental sciences, or related disciplines.
In addition to the multiple positions listed above, CMAP seeks candidates for a:
- Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Experimental or Theoretical High Energy Density Physics (HEDP) to work with OMEGA/OMEGA EP experiments on topics connected to both fundamental HEDP science and its implications for planetary and astrophysical phenomena. Experience with x-ray diagnostics, software relevant to such physics experiments, including parallel fluid simulations are desired. Candidates for this position should have a Ph.D. by the start date in experimental or theoretical high energy density plasma physics, material sciences, astrophysics or related disciplines.
CMAP Fellows at the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é will be part of the larger CMAP NSF Physics Frontier Center, a collaboration among ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é; Princeton University; University of California, Davis; Massachusetts Institute of Technology; University at Buffalo; and University of California, Berkeley, for which the team members communicate weekly. Read the press release about CMAP.
Positions may be available for multiple years, depending on performance. Review of applications will be ongoing until successful candidates are chosen. Applications consist of a CV, a statement of research interests and 3 letters of recommendation. Please submit all application materials electronically to Natalie Antal, administrator of IMAXED and CMAP, at natalie.antal@rochester.edu by May 31, 2021.
The ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é is an Equal Opportunity Employer, has a strong commitment to diversity and actively encourages applications from candidates from groups underrepresented in higher education. All applications are considered without regard to race, sex, age, religion or national origin.
