Group Fitness Classes
The Department of Athletics and Recreation sponsors group fitness classes every semester through the Intramural Sports Program. We offer a variety of aerobic and conditioning classes. We also partner with the Mindful University Project to offer yoga classes each day of the week. To learn about our yoga instructor team, check out the Mindful University Project website.
The in-person classes are free for all full-time matriculated students or R Club members.
All in-person classes are held in the Leibner Cooper Room in the Goergen Athletic Center. Classes are offered throughout the academic year, except during University holidays.
Please wear appropriate and comfortable attire and remember to abide by Goergen Athletic Center guidelines, including wearing a mask when required. We have yoga mats and props for your usage during yoga classes. Please see our FAQ's for more information.

Fall 2024
Power Vinyasa: Power Vinyasa combines breath, movement, strength, and flexibility to create a moving meditation. Poses are linked to create a dynamic flow, meant to promote muscle engagement and endurance on the mat. Power Vinyasa is a faster pace class, best suited for those looking for a more athletic yoga class, or who have previous knowledge of yoga postures and/or an established yoga practice.
Vinyasa Flow: Vinyasa Flow links movement and breath to move from one yoga posture to another. Suited for most, this class is intended to offer students an active yoga practice while exploring how to connect to ourselves through stillness in the postures.
Flow & Restore: Flow & Restore combines the movement and flow of Vinyasa with the deep relaxation of Restorative. Students can expect a class that prioritizes equanimity and how to find it in the balance between effort and ease.
Gentle Yoga: Gentle & Restorative yoga is an opportunity to stretch, relax and breathe deeply. No experience with yoga required to attend, this class will use props and gentle movements to support ourselves through intention. Perfect for anyone looking to move at a slow pace, or to compliment a more athletic practice.
Foundations: Explore the fundamentals of yoga postures, breathwork and alignment cueing in Foundations. This class is appropriate for everyone, not just beginners! Students can expect a combination of active postures, explanations of commonly encountered yoga poses, and how to develop a meaningful practice on and off the mat.

The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. It is a whole-body aerobic exercise that uses up a lot of energy and burns calories through dancing. Since the method uses repetition of movements, it is easy to learn and follow.
