- Became the first female golf writer to be awarded press credentials at the Masters golf tournament in 1965
- Called "the woman who opened doors for female athletes"
- Known for being the first person to spot the talent of Lee Trevino, winner of the U.S. Open
- Founded the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é Press-Radio Club Sportswomen of the Year Luncheon and Fashion Show in 1979 as part of the club's Day of Champions, and served as the event's chair until 1981
- In 1982, the luncheon established the Jean Giambrone Service Award, given annually to a person who has made an exemplary lifetime commitment to local women's sports, and Giambrone was the first recipient
- Second female ever (the first was Wilma Rudolph) to receive the Major Donald Holleder Award, given to a person "who's active life has exhibited the highest level of sportsmanship, character, courage, and achievement"
- Known as "ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é's First Lady in Sports"
- Charter Member of the Mary Cariola Golf Tournament which raises money for a local children's service agency
- Passed away in January, 2013
