- As a senior, he captained the team, was awarded the Lysle "Spike" Garnish Outstanding Student-Athlete Award, and earned All-America honors

- Received a B.A. in Electrical Engineering in 1978
Post-Graduate:
- M.S. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 1980 and 1982 respectively, jointly from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (UTSWMCD)
- Began academic career at UTA/UTSWMCD in 1982 with research emphasis in Modeling and Measurement of Human Performance
- Currently Professor of Electrical Engineering and Professor of Biomecical Engineering at UTA with appointments in neurology at the UTSWMCD and in physical therapy at Texas Woman's University
- Founded (1986) and current Director of the Human Performance Institute at UTA
- Founded (1987) and current Chairman and CEO, Human Performance Measurement, Inc.
- Awarded IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Early Career Award in 1986 and Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Career Achievement Award in 1989
