- Contributed at linebacker, defensive guard, tackle

- Most Improved Player awards as a sophomore
- Most Valuable Lineman award as a junior and senior
- 1954 team co-captain
- Graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in English with honors in 1955
Post-Graduate:
- Earned an MA and Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Chicago
- Middle School/High School teacher and principal
- Associate Superintendent of Public Schools in Philadelphia, PA
- Superintendent of Schools in Ann Arbor, MI
- Director of Laboratory Schools at the University of Chicago (1980-86)
- Founding Director of Statewide Center for North Carolina Teachers
- University of Illinois faculty (1991-96)
- Retired in 1996
- Passed away in November, 2003
