- Graduated with Highest Distinction in History in 1942
Post-Graduate:
- MBA With Distinction from the Harvard Business School in 1946
- Joined the firm of Stein, Roe & Farnham, an investment counseling firm in Chicago, in 1946
- Made a partner in 1954 and ultimately vice chairman
- Retired in 1991
- Served as a University Trustee from 1965-1981, now a Life Trustee
- Has been the Chairman of the Chicago Alumni Club since the 1960s
