- We have approximately 80 programs listed on this web site. To make it easier to research we have listed the programs by state. Each description contains the name of the program, appropriate dates, deadlines, eligibility requirements and the program representative.
- The Hope campus typically has about 100 students from Hope College and other colleges and universities doing research in the natural sciences and mathematics during the summer. There are substantial recreational opportunities, with the west Michigan beaches nearby. Joint social events will be planned with students in concurrent REU programs in physics, computer science, biology, and chemistry.
- Through its grants to individuals and institutions, HHMI supports the efforts of scientists and educators, colleges and universities, museums, and biomedical research organizations. These grants are transforming the ways research is conducted and science is taught and understood.

- This 10-week summer program introduces undergraduates, recent graduates, medical students, PhD and MD/PhD students, and postdoctoral research associates to the unique challenges and requirements of clinical research. By bringing together "students" at all of these levels of training each will also become connected with others who are further along the ladder of success.
- The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program is funded through the U.S. Department of Education, Higher Education Programs, and is designed to increase the number of low-income, first-generation and underrepresented minority college students who pursue and complete the doctoral degree. Its long-range mission is to help increase the diversity of college and university faculties.
- The Minority Medical Education Program (MMEP) will offer summer educational experiences to help promising, highly motivated minority students gain admission to medical schools.

- The NHSC offers the SEARCH - Student/Resident Experiences and Rotations in Community Health - programs for students and residents interested in getting first-hand experience in under-served areas.
- The NRC is continually involved in promoting these programs to ensure that all members of the scientific community, including members of underrepresented minorities, are aware of this unique opportunity.
- The NSF will award approximately 900 new Graduate Research Fellowships to support graduate study in science, mathematics, and engineering. The NSF contracts with Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) to provide the support services for this prestigious fellowship program.
- New York State Regents Professional Opportunity Scholarships are awarded to students who are enrolled in an approved program that leads to licensure in a profession designated by the New York State Commissioner of Education. Awards are renewable for up to four years of study, but recipients of POS awards must agree, in writing, to practice in New York State (in the profession for which the scholarship was granted) for one year for each year an award was paid.
- There are a number of research fellowships and internships available at the University of Massachusetts Worcester Campus. This particular program is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for School Services. It is funded by the National Institutes of Health for African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics and Asians. It's main aims are to attract minority students into biomedical and behavioral research careers in the area of heart, lung and blood disorders; increase the already short supply of qualified minority investigators; and increase the number of minority applicants to the Graduate Schools of Biomedical Science and Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

- The Graduate School at Princeton University is offering a summer research program for African American, Hispanic, and Native American undergraduates for nine weeks. Students should have completed their junior or sophomore years in college, preferably have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and show promise for graduate school study. Students in the Princeton Summer Research Experience will receive a cash stipend of $3750, travel expenses up to $500, and the program will pay for room expenses of $1200.
-R-
- The Institute of Ecosystem Studies Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program gives students what for most is their first opportunity to become part of a research community. Supported by the National Science Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the program involves many students from underrepresented groups and from colleges that don't provide undergraduate research opportunities.

- MSSOP will provide students with ten weeks of research experience conducted with a faculty member at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In addition to research training, students will participate in a special seminar/lecture series together with other college students who are at Einstein for the summer. The goal is to introduce students to the broad research environment of a major academic medical center as well as to provide training in a specific field of biomedical investigation.
- The program is designed to expose participants to medically-related research and career options in academic medicine. Students work with faculty researchers on a variety of research projects. Participating faculty are from varied disciplines such as pharmacology, neurobiology and cardiology. The long range goal of the program is to enhance participants' competitiveness for admission to Graduate or health professions schools.
- Each summer, the Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences at New York University School of Medicine sponsors a research internship program in the basic medical sciences for undergraduate students. The purpose of the program is to give highly qualified students, who are interested in pursuing careers in the biomedical sciences (MD/PhD or PhD), the opportunity to conduct research, while exposed to the excitement of an academic medical environment at a major research center.
