Labs / departments / offsite programs where research was conducted

I did my research at the Mount Hope Family Center in ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é.

I worked as a research assistant on Project Promise (Promoting Positive Parenting).

I did an independent research project using data from a project called FLIGHT (Families Learning, Interacting, and Growing Healthy Together).

I'm a current research assistant for TRANSFORM (Translational Research that Adapts New Science FOR Maltreatment Prevention), working on FHS (the Family Health Study).

About me...

I'm a pre-med, biology student, but I like to expand my areas of research beyond the natural sciences.

I find great fulfillment in research that has a mission I can connect to, such as contributing to interventional psychotherapy treatments for mothers and their infants.

Outside of my academic life, I'm a distance runner and martial artist. Anytime I'm not in a lecture, in the library, or at my research center, I can ‘be found on the track or doing drills in the gym!

How has your experience as a researcher influenced your career objectives?

Although I’m pre-med, I’ve often considered the research route and things like MD/PhD programs.

After working more closely with researchers and sitting in on meetings for other projects, I learned that I’m more interested in pursuing the medical path without research (going straight through).

As much as I love the process, I determined it wasn’t something I wanted professionally in the long run.

Fun Fact: when I'm not doing research you can usually find me...

What advice do you have for prospective or new researchers?

Get involved in new areas! There's nothing wrong with pursuing projects within your current discipline, but I'll always advocate for expanding your horizons! There are many great disciplines out there and you never know what you might find enjoyable.
