About me...
I am a senior majoring in Biochemistry and Philosophy with a minor in Chemistry. I began research as a sophomore in the Hayes group studying protein folding in chromatin condensation, a project for which I was privileged to receive the Schwartz Discover Grant in Summer 2023. This work served as the basis for my candidacy for the Astronaut Scholarship, which has provided me with a community of dedicated scholars and friends.
Growth arises from challenging myself. By expanding my coursework beyond my majors and seeking out graduate courses in the Chemistry, Pharmacology, and Philosophy departments, I have been able to gain a comprehensive overview of the diverse areas of study contained within the biological sciences, and to realize that my deepest interest concerns the structure and activation of transmembrane proteins. I am currently working towards a senior thesis in the Bidlack Lab on the allosteric modulation of opioid receptor subtypes, and preparing to apply for graduate programs.
