PhD in Optics

Mohammad Hosseini

(He/His)

Why did you choose UR for graduate education?

Before joining U of R, I worked in a medical device manufacturing company, designing and developing medical laser machines. My interest in understanding the structure of lasers and their application in biomedical optics led me to apply to the Institute of Optics at the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é. I chose the Institute of Optics for its stellar reputation, particularly for its close collaboration with the medical school, which facilitates resource sharing and groundbreaking research in the field of biomedical optics.

What resources or services have you found most helpful at UR?

The University Health Service (UHS) and University Counseling Center (UCC) have been invaluable resources for me at U of R. Whenever I needed support, they were always responsive and provided the help I needed.

What are your favorite spots on or off-campus in ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é?

On-campus, I enjoy spending time at Rush Rhees Library, especially the peaceful spot in front where I can relax. Off-campus, I like visiting shopping centers like Marketplace in Henrietta, Pittsford Plaza, and Eastview Mall. For outdoor activities around ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é, I highly recommend hiking and camping, with the Adirondack Mountains being a must-visit at least once during your time in ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é.
