Why did you choose UR for graduate education?
The ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é's status as an R1 University led me to believe that it would provide exceptional training for my degree and the chance to collaborate with leading researchers in my field. During my interview with UR, I was particularly attracted to the community of graduate students, both within the program and the university as a whole. The student environment is not competitive but rather supportive and friendly. Moving across the country, I knew it was important to surround myself with good people.
What resources or services have you found most helpful at UR?
The graduate research symposiums and talks organized at the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é are incredibly beneficial. They provide graduate students with valuable experience in presenting their research and offer a fantastic opportunity to connect with peers from other departments. I thoroughly enjoy presenting my work at these events and have met some amazing people in the process. Additionally, I find the teaching center to be a valuable resource, offering excellent guidance on how to effectively TA my classes.
What are your favorite spots on or off-campus in ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é?
As a foodie, I've thoroughly enjoyed exploring the food and cocktail scene in ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é. With so many options, it's hard to choose favorites. Whether it's brunch, dinner, or happy hour, ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é has something for everyone. I always tell people that you will never be bored in ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é; there's so much to see and do, whether you're into art, food, nature, science, or anything else. The Public Market and Lucky Flea Market are probably some of my favorite weekend activities!
