Graduate Community Assistants (GCAs)

The GCAs are all ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é graduate students. They are fantastic resources if you need information from those who have likely been in your shoes at some point. Each GCA designs programs and events for the community in which they live.

Graduate and Family Housing Graduate Assistant (GFHGA)

The graduate and family housing services graduate assistant (GFHGA) contributes to the efforts and programming for residents in graduate housing. The GA will work with fellow graduate staff to host programs and organize events. They will have a hand in community wide communication, signature programs and new initiatives, with opportunity to connect with campus partners as the office furthers its commitment to residents feeling at home and engaged. 

The GFHGA requires 20 hours of work per week. Compensation is $15.00 per hour.

Off-Campus Housing Graduate Assistant (OCGA)

The off-campus housing graduate assistant directly reports to the assistant director (AD), supporting and contributing to the efforts and programs for off-campus students. The OCGA will work with Neighborhood Ambassadors to host programs and organize events. They will have a hand in community-wide communication, signature programs and new initiatives, with opportunity to connect with campus partners as the office furthers its commitment to off-campus housing.

The OCGA requires 15-18 hours of work per week. Compensation is $15.00 per hour.

Graduate Positions working with Undergraduate Students (All positions are filled for 2024-2025 academic year) 

Graduate Resident Director (GRD)

The GRD is a graduate assistant position supervising a resident advisor (RA) staff to help build healthy and inclusive residential communities and foster a lively academic and intellectual culture.

RAs work with undergraduate students to develop a class identity, campus spirit, and pride in the College and the University. The GRD should know and establish a working rapport with the staff team and the residents for whom they are responsible. The number of RA staff and residents varies between 9-15 staff members and 300-600 students for a particular area.

The GRD is expected to help residents get to know one another in the living environment and to serve as a source of information about the College and its services. The GRD intervenes in the resolution of behavioral issues and interpersonal or inter-group conflicts; and refers students with social, personal, academic, or health-related problems to the appropriate University agencies.GRD report to the area coordinator based on their assigned residential area. This is an academic year appointment and requires attendance at all staff training programs.

The GRD requires 18 hours of work per week. It includes a $7,500 stipend and a furnished apartment in undergraduate housing as well as two installments of 850 (1,700 total) declining dollars (student currently usable at dining halls) a year. Students in the Warner Higher Ed program may receive additional compensation from their academic department. Term of position is August – Late-May with possible reappointment.

Graduate House Advisor (GHA)

The graduate house advisor (GHA) is a para-professional staff member for the Office for Residential Life and Housing Services reporting to the area coordinator. The primary charge of the GHA is to build a healthy and inclusive residential community in a specific house and to foster a lively academic and intellectual environment and culture.

This position requires flexibility, aptitude, and willingness to succeed in structured and unstructured settings with students, staff, and faculty. GHAs are expected to create intellectually active residential environments that enhance personal growth and support the academic mission of the College.

GHAs work with residents to develop residential group identity, campus spirit, and pride in the College.

The GHA requires 13 hours of work per week. It includes a $5,000 stipend and a furnished room in undergraduate housing as well as two installments of 850 (1,700  total) declining dollars (student currently usable at dining halls) a year. Students in the Warner Higher Ed program may receive additional compensation from their academic department. Term of position is August – Late-May with possible reappointment.

Leadership Programs Graduate Assistant (LPGA)

The Graduate Assistant helps supervise various leadership groups and student leaders in the Office for Residential Life.  The LPGA serves as a source of information about the College and its services.  The primary charge for the LPGA is to assist and be involved in all aspects of training, leadership and development for our student organizations and its leaders. 

This is a great opportunity to get experience and hone your skills set when it comes to working with and advising students.

The LPGA requires 20 hours of work per week. Compensation is $15 per hour paid biweekly, and a partial meal plan during the Fall & Spring semesters. Students in the Warner Higher Ed. program may receive additional compensation from their academic department. Term of position is 12 months with possible reappointment.
