Student Assistants
Each year, the Office for Residential Life and Housing Services hires student assistants to work in the area offices to assist with various tasks.
To see if there are open positions check or go to any area office to inquire about openings at the beginning of the year.
What do Student Assistants do?
Academic Year Student Assistants
Student assistants in the area offices during the year may assist with working the desk, answering phones, helping students, assisting with room checks, helping students with room changes, filing, and generally helping the area secretary and area coordinator with office work. Student assistants during the year are paid hourly for their work.
Summer Student Assistants
Position: Summer Resident Advisor (RA)
Contract Dates: May 16-August 15
Qualifications: The Summer RA (SRA) position is open to anyone who will be an RA next year, meaning both returners and people who were just hired. The position operates very similarly to an RA during the year (you will have residents, do programs, duty, etc). For those who have not been an RA before, it provides a great opportunity to learn the ropes before the start of the fall semester.
Compensation: The position includes a single room and a 900-dollar stipend paid bi-weekly. Details on the compensation and job description are on the application ().

Position: Summer Desk Assistant
Contract Dates: May 16-August 26
Hours: 4-12 hours per week with a max of 20 hours per week (this position covers the summer desk from 4pm-8pm on weekdays, 8am-8pm on weekends, and on university holidays when the area offices are closed)
Compensation: $15/hr. (Housing is not provided as compensation for this position)
Duties: Clerical duties, customer service, prep work for the upcoming year and other area specific duties
Please Note: To be eligible for this position, you must be here for the entire summer. Limited time away may be approved by supervisor. You must be available for the entirety of August.
Prerequisites: You must be an undergraduate student for the 2024 fall semester.

Position: Summer Assistant Manager
Contract Dates: May 16-August 26
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week during business hours (between 8:00am-5:00pm)
Compensation: $15/hr. plus placement in a summer housing space on campus.
Duties: Clerical duties, customer service, prep work for the upcoming year and other area specific duties, there may be some walking to different residential communities as well as lifting items involved.
