Resident Advisors

The ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é’s Office for Residential Life and Housing Services houses over 4,200 undergraduate students in eight residential areas across campus. Over 120 resident advisors (RAs) work to support, refer residents to campus resources, and build inclusive communities within our residence halls and apartments. RAs are student leaders who are hired based on their high level of maturity, interpersonal skills, empathy, and work ethic. These are highly competitive on-campus leadership positions for our upperclass students.

RAs are trained in various skills, including:

  • Community building
  • Peer counseling
  • Advising
  • Needs based programming
  • Resource referrals
  • Emergency response and policy enforcement

The selection of RAs is a yearlong process with components in the fall and spring semesters. RAs are interviewed and complete a course component during the selection process and are selected based on their maturity, common sense, programming ideas, and peer counselling skills.
